Approve the resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Manager to execute the new Interlocal Agreement with Broward County for Building Code Services, as attached, effective October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2018.

Description of Action |
|
The current Interlocal Agreement for Building Code Services (ILA) between the City and Broward County was entered into on August 26, 2014 and will expire on September 30, 2016. Broward County has provided building code services that include: plan review and inspections for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural disciplines as well as services for a Building Official. For the past 2 years the City has paid Broward County approximately 35% of its building fund revenue for these services.
The proposed Interlocal Agreement, attached, is now before the City Commission for their consideration and provides for Building Code Services by Broward County for a 2 year term through September 30, 2018 for an amount not to exceed $850,000. per year funded in the City’s Building Fund, within the Professional Services Account (Account #: 107-15-02-524-31-10). The agreement may be terminated by either party upon ninety (90) day written notice. The proposed agreement indicates the Broward County rate for services has increased from 2014 by 5%.
The building code services provided by the County will be in conjunction with the supplemental services recently approved for the Special Permitting Office from C.A.P Government Inc.
